Park Community Credit Union - A New Type of Pet Tag Promises to Keep You Connected

Smart, connected technologies are making their way into everything from garage door openers to office equipment – and even pet tags.

While most of this technology boosts the convenience and efficiency of everyday things, applications in pet tags can prove to be a lifesaver.

One of the newest and most sophisticated pet tag designs comes from a company called Pawscout.

A Pawscout tag tracks movements and identifies lost pets with the help of the Pawscout App, allowing owners to share alerts and receive virtual updates from their online community of friends, family, and other pet owners.

The tag tracks walk distances, and a live map means people can easily spot their pet in real-time as long as the pet is within a 300-foot range of anyone with the Pawscout App.

For extra security, a virtual leash can be set to warn owners if Fido decides to scamper out of view.

Pawscout tags are available on and at retailers in Canada, with a U.S. retail roll out later in 2017. It is priced at $19.99, with no monthly fees.

The Pawscout App is available for download in the Apple App Store and Google Play Store.

These types of pet tags have been around for a few years now, but the Pawscout offers some impressive features. We like that there are no monthly fees. This sounds like a low-cost option that might be worth looking into.
