Celebrating What Comes Next for Local Graduates

Big Brothers Big Sisters’ “Caps Off Celebration” at Bellarmine University felt exactly like a graduation should — uplifting, heartfelt, and full of possibility.

Through its year-round partnership with Big Brothers Big Sisters, Park Community Credit Union supports programs like “Big Futures,” helping students prepare for education and careers while building financial confidence. The Caps Off Celebration is one moment in that larger journey, built around guidance, encouragement, and opportunity.

Park helped bring the celebration to life with a boba lemonade bar designed to match the energy of the day. Guests were invited to build their own drinks, choosing from lemonade flavors and fruity boba like strawberry, peach, and blueberry. Volunteers stepped in as baristas, turning the space into a bright, interactive gathering point where guests lingered, talked, compared combinations, and snapped photos.

At the center of it all were the high school graduates and what comes next.

One is already a licensed pilot heading to college to study engineering on scholarship. Another plans to study large animal science with the goal of becoming a zoo veterinarian. Their goals gave the room a clear sense of momentum: this wasn’t just about finishing high school but stepping into what’s ahead.

A conversation with Big Brothers Big Sisters CEO Gary Friedman underscored that broader impact, highlighting how consistent community partnerships help students stay supported long after events like this end.

More than anything, the day carried warmth and optimism — graduates stepping forward, families celebrating, and a room full of people genuinely invested in their future. In the middle of it, a small corner filled with color, conversation, and boba lemonade became a reminder that community impact often shows up in simple, shared moments.
