On February 20, 2026, Park Community Credit Union joined community leaders, partners, and residents to celebrate the ribbon cutting of Hansbrough Place Apartments in Louisville’s Shawnee neighborhood — a project years in the making and a dream championed by Rev. Dr. Stephen Smith to bring quality, affordable housing to the community.
Hosted by REBOUND, Inc., the event marked the opening of 38 income-based apartments designed to expand access to safe, stable housing in West Louisville. Park supported the project through lending that helped build the apartments from vision to reality.
“It’s a momentous day for West Louisville and the Shawnee neighborhoods,” said Kevin L. Dunlap, president & CEO of REBOUND, Inc. “When we began conversations with Park, we talked about the need — how we really needed funding. Before we could even finish, they were all in.”
As Kentucky’s largest Community Development Financial Institution (CDFI), Park’s role goes beyond traditional financial services.
“When you have a home, you have opportunity,” said LaShanta Green, chief engagement officer at Park. “A table can be where someone is doing homework one day, to making grocery lists and to-do lists, to starting to plot the plan for the legendary and legacy building work that they will do in their lives.”
Park’s team, including leaders from multicultural engagement, programs & partnerships, and commercial lending, was proud to attend the ribbon cutting and celebrate the community impact of Hansbrough Place.
Rev. Smith closed the ceremony with a blessing:
“Bless the housing that will house the people. That every family who moves in will be touched by your blessing: that services will be given to them, love will be shown to them, and community will surround them.”
Hansbrough Place is more than a building. It’s a place where children can grow, families can thrive, and the community can flourish. It stands as a testament to what happens when vision, partnership, and commitment come together.
The project was made possible through collaboration with Louisville Metro Government, Louisville Affordable Housing Trust Fund, Louisville Urban League, Park Community Credit Union, Louisville Metro Housing Authority, Portland Memorial Baptist Church, and Councilwoman Donna Purvis.
